Description

WIRSWALL C.P.
SJ 54 SW
5/79 Barn at Wirswall Hall
-
- II
Barn. C16 or C17. Timber framed with clapboard covering (probably
originally wattle and daub infill), with corrugated iron roof over thatch.
Single storey barn with later inserted first floor. South flank: 19x3
cells of small framing with angle braces and covered by clapboarding
some of which is butt-ended, the rest overlaid and much of which has
now fallen off. The uprights and cross timbers are channelled
indicating a different original infill which has been replaced by the
boarding. To either gable end are later extensions.
Interior: Two internal dividing walls with later inserted tension
braces and beams for the first floor. Queen post trusses with lateral
uprights, two principals and a ridge.
