TUNSTALL CONEYGARTH LANE (off)
SD 67 SW

5/185 Tarnwater
4-10-1967
GV II

House, 1699. Sandstone rubble with slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Windows
rebated and chamfered with mullions, of 3 lights except for the central
one on the 1st floor which appears to be a modern imitation. The left-hand
ground-floor window appears to have had its mullions extended. The door,
in the central bay, has a cyma-moulded surround and a battlemented lintel
with hood, inscribed: '1699RWM'. Gable chimneys, the right-hand one with
projecting stack. Inside, the right-hand room has exposed chamfered main
joists and a fireplace with splayed sides and plain lintel. The left-hand
room has a carved spice cupboard door inscribed: 'RWM 1699'.
