British Listed Buildings does not give a date for the house, but Wikipedia gives a probable date of the 17th century. It is certainly in the style of other local buildings from the late 1600s. Aughton is a tiny hamlet between Halton and Gressingham in the valley of the River Lune, and is not be be confused with the village of Aughton in West Lancashire.
