Cottage, dated 1776 on lintel of door. Coursed sandstone rubble
with quoins, now ribbon pointed, stone slate roof now with no
chimney. Simple rectangular plan, 2 bays and 2 storeys, gable to
road (further gable built against slope); central doorway has plain
jambs with little imposts, extended and stepped lintel with panels
on the head lettered "I + JL" and "1776", and moulded slab canopy on
beaked brackets; 1st bay to left has a 4-light flush mullion window
on each floor and 2nd bay to right has a 2-light casement at ground
floor and 2-light flush mullion window above. Right return wall has a
blocked Venetian-form attic window; rear has plain doorway, 3-light
flush mullion window to left, a similar window blocked at 1st floor to
right, 2-light windows at ground floor to right and 1st floor to left,
and 3 other modernised openings.
