South aisle chapel. c1220 Early English Gothic lancet window. The embrasure of the narrow window is splayed wide to send as much daylight as possible into the church. On either side are corbel-like altar hangers. These were used to support a pole with heavy altar curtains, or a portable reredos. (Photo Apr 2008).
