Headstone, a little submerged by eternal holly. The frieze displays symbols of mortality: a scythe, an hourglass, a gravediggers spade, perennial flowers, a grinning skull, the eternal sun, a stand with burning vase, two seraphim, stormclouds. Acanthus leaves decorate the sides. The double epitaphs are to 1) John Heard father of John and Joseph Heard, d. 11th Jan 1739. Verse, six lines beginning: All you that come my Grave to see/ As I am now so must you be/ Repent (at once make no) delay/ Many (early are) calld away. 2) Mary Heard wife of John Heard senior d. 1720. Verse including: Stay passenger consider well/ (watch and pray). (Photo Sept 2013).
