Against the south wall is the tomb of Sir Everard Digby, d.1509. Heavily sculpted knight's effigy on base with shields in quatrefoils with Latin inscription I translate as -By the Grace of God Everard Diggeby lord of Talton and Stokdri (Stoke Dry, Rutland) who died Twenty First of the month January in the Year of our Lord (a latin number, possibly 1499 or 1500, modified with words after. Then) Protected by God Amen-. May have been over-restored in the C19 as the blackletter script is not in a consistent hand throughout. For example January is written in English and very crisp and neatly. (Photo Apr 2007).
