One of the Swithland slate headstones carved by a local craftsman based in the Vale of Belvoir, and featuring the characteristic wide winged simplified angels head pictured. Decorative gyres surround the verse and are attached to some serifs.Remember (thy end)-. Hourglass and crossed femurs. Here lies the Body of James Johnson He died In the 53d year of his age October the 27th 1718. -He loved peace and quietness/ Who here interred lies/ his reward is Eternall bliss/ Above the starry skies-.
