Re-set slate tablet with painted heraldry to John Turner, Armiger (an Esquire, licensed to bear arms). d. Aug 5th 1753 aged 69. Also his wife Selina Turner d. Mar 5th 1770 aged 79. She may have been a second cousin- her part of the shield has; Barry of 8 ermine and azure, in a chief of the first, half a lion rampant gules. A crescent for difference. His part has; Ermine, on a cross azure, 5 fers de moline (mill stone turning clamps). The crest is a lion passant argent, holding in its dexter paw a fer de moline. The clamps are possibly supposed to be sable (black) from the dark grey colour of the slate. Engraved by Firmadge (Firmager) of Leicester. (Photo Apr 2007).
