Youth hostel, formerly row of 3 cottages. Late C17 or early C18. Coursed
ironstone rubble, some courses of brick below eaves, corrugated iron roof
replacing thatch, brick ridge and end stacks; end stacks have stone bases.
3-unit lobby-entry plan nucleus with single-unit additions either end. 2
storeys. 5-window range. C20 plank doors to left and right of centre, small
central one-light leaded window, a 3-light chamfered wood mullion and transom
window to left and leaded one-light window to right, a 3-liqht casement to far
left, a 2-light C20 casement to far right. 1-, 2- and 3-light casements to first
floor, that to far left with dropped sill. All windows and doors have timber
lintels, those to centre 3 ground floor windows stop-chamfered. Interior has
stop-chamfered spine beams and rafters, open fireplace with stop-chamfered
cambered bressumer, one good stud partition wall and roof with king post collar
trusses.
