Canal Side Warehouse with Stop Lock and Dock, Warwick Bar, Warwick and Birmingham Canal

A Grade II Listed Building in Nechells, Birmingham

Warwick Bar Stop Lock and Banana Warehouse

Uploader's Comments

The Warwick Bar stop lock joins the Digbeth Branch of the Birmingham Canal Navigations (behind the photographer) and the Warwick and Birmingham Canal (later the Grand Union Canal). The stop lock was installed to separate the water systems of the competing canal companies, while still allowing boats to pass.
The adjacent Banana Warehouse with its overhanging canopy is so named as it was once owned by Geest. Both are grade II listed.
