2 blocks, C16 and late C18. Country house now used by school. Rainwaterhead
dated 1800 with initials 1C. C16 south block, altered C19, has red brick front,
tiled roof with ornamental bargeboards to 2 gables. 2 storeys, 2 flush lattice
casement windows under dripmoulds. Rebuilt chimneystack with clustered diagonal
shafts. Late C18 north block has unpainted stucco front, parapet masking roof.
2 storeys, end pilasters, reeded band at eaves level. 8 sash windows with glazing
bars in reveals. Half glazed 2 fold door with marginal lights, wide semi-circular
traceried fanlight. Doric porch has 2 fluted columns, 2 similar half columns,
open pediment with mutule cornice, coffered soffit.
Interior retains chimneypieces, cornice mouldings, staircase with wrought iron
railings, moulded handrail and cut spandrels. Home in recent years of Sir William
Hart, Clerk to the GLC.
