Hammersmith Town Hall, Nigel Playfair Avenue, London W6 was designed by E. Berry Webber and constructed 1938- 39.
The Town Hall is a grade II listed building and is in the 'King Street East' conservation area.
Friezes above the entrance on the west elevation. The friezes represent (from left to right) The performing arts (with masks of comedy and tragedy), learning and books (inscribed SPECTEMUR, 1939), the civic arms (showing crossed hammers over a crown), the building trades (inscribed AGENDO) and the graphic arts (with a portrait of Walter Greaves with palette and brushes set against a Hammersmith scene).
