TL 51 SE LEADEN RODING

5/21 Langlands

House, early C17. Timber framed, plastered and weatherboarded, roof tiled.
L-plan with wings extending to north and west. Front elevation to south.
Original external chimney stacks to east of north wing and to north of west
wing. Small lean-to extension in angle, C19. 2 storeys. 2 C20 casement
windows and C20 glazed porch, 3 C20 casement windows above. Roof half-
hipped to west, hipped to east. Weatherboarded on east elevation and part
of north, remainder plastered. Central stair. Some timber framing exposed
in first floor of north wing, straight bracing trenched to inside of studs,
jowled storey posts, clasped purlin roof open to collar level, ceiled at
wallplate level in west wing. Stop-chamfered beams. Little changed since
original construction, although hips of north wing may be secondary, and
re-fenestrated. RCHM 10.
