Detached house now in 2 occupations. Dated and initialled
'A/C/1703'. Finely dressed coursed and squared tufa-like limestone
to facade of The Dower House (facing north), otherwise random
limestone. Facade of The Old Dower House (facing west) rendered.
Stone stacks, one C20 all with flat-chamfered C20 cappings.
Concrete tile roof, stone slate in single storey extensions. 'L'-
shaped plan with contemporary single storey extension to left gable
end of The Dower House and to right gable end of The Old Dower
House. C20 single storey extension to right of The Dower House,
not of special interest. Symmetrical, 3-storey, 2-windowed facades
to both parts. The Dower House; stone-mullioned, ovolo-moulded
cross windows to ground and first floors. Two 2-light casements to
second floor one with ovolo-moulded mullions the other with flat-
chamfered mullions. C19 six-panel door with two upper panels
glazed. Bull's-eye window above with initials and dates in
spandrels. Facade of The Old Dower House; flat-chamfered mullions
to second floor windows. C20 gabled projecting porch, part-glazed
C19 four-panelled door within porch. Foliate decoration in
spandrels of bull's-eye window above porch. Two-light stone-
mullioned window to single storey extension right.
Interior: The Dower House; contemporary dogleg, open string
staircase with turned balusters, newels comprise groups of 4 or 6
balusters. Sunken rectangular panel on each riser. Several C17
two-panelled doors. Fielded panelling with bolection moulding over
an upstairs fireplace, between two C17 doors. Moulded stops to
some beams. Interior of The Old Dower House not inspected.
