II
Two adjoining cottages on corner site. C18, with C19 addition to
west on Pike House. Random coursed rubble stone, stone slate roof,
stone end stack to east, brick ridge stack with stone flue to C19
west wing. Long range, canted in centre, mainly 2 storeys. Corner
cottage to left has two paired casements to both floors, timber
lintels on first floor and large flush stone lintels on ground
floor, with entrance on rear side. Pike House has 2 gabled dormers
through eaves in earlier part, 2-light to left and 3-light to
right. Similar on ground floor flanking central C20 door up 2
stone steps, all with timber lintels. C19 wing to right has gable
end to street with cambered head casements on both floors and door
to left recessed behind slightly projecting gable, plank door up 2
stone steps. Modest, but holding an important position in the
village street.
