Dwelling. Mid C18. Brick on slag block plinth (to front wall only), stone slate
front slope and to deep back wing, left, tile to back slope and smaller wing, right.
Built as L-shaped block, with stacks to three gables, lower wing at north end added
later. Originally a detached dwelling, now abutted by C20 Village Hall (not included)
immediately left. Two storeys and attic, 5-windowed, new casements under segmental
brick heads, central 6-panel door with flat wooden hood on consoles. On return, left,
one small hipped dormer, and 3 late C20 laylights in front roof slope. Original heavy
roof structure, straight C19 staircase. Said to have been a workhouse in 1781, and
part used as school for a period. Formerly there were 5 dormers on the main front.
