Early C19 facade to mathematical tiling applied to an older building. Stucco painted
stringcourse at 1st and 2nd floor height. Stucco cornice and coped parapet. Tiled
roof. 3 storeys. 5 windows with stucco lintels and keystones unbarred sashes.
Segmental porch. Round arched doorway with pilasters, semi-circular fanlight and
door of 9 fielded panels, the top 3 panels cut away and glazed. Good staircase.
Art Nouveau stained glass at rear.
All the listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, with the listed street
lamps form a group, together with Nos 1 and 2 and the Parish Church of St Peter
and St Paul, Church Place and with the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 East Street. (No
45, High Street is of local interest).
