Late C18. Double pile house with stuccoed facade, stringcourses at 1st and 2nd
floor sill heights, eaves cornice and parapet. Old tiled roof. 3 storeys. 3
windows, sashes with glazing bars, and 3 light bay on ground and 1st floors at
south end. Other windows in moulded architrave surrounds. Fine porch with fluted
Doric columns, pediment, semi-circular fanlight and door of 6 fielded panels.
Carriageway arch to south side in stuccoed wall with pediment above. Some alterations
in early C20 when rear ballroom said to have been added.
All the listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, with the listed street
lamps form a group, together with Nos land 2 and the Parish Church of St Peter and
St Paul, Church Place and with the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 East Street. (No 45,
High Street is of local interest).
