Description

1. HANBURY ROAD
1054
No 2
SO 9063 2/76

II

2.
An early C19 former toll house of two storeys red brick. Four square on plan with a
small rear wing. The principal elevations have full height arched recesses, the gauged
brickwork springing from stone imposts at the corners giving the impression of giant
arcading - an unusually monumental treatment for a toll house. The roof is pyramidal
and tile clad with flat eaves. The main elevations each have 2 ground floor glazing
bar sash windows under slightly cambered gauged brick arches and a 1st floor window
under the crown of the recess arch. Blind doorways to the centre of two of the elevations
and a door of 6 fielded panels with Victorian gabled finialed hood to Hanbury Road.
