II
Pair of cottages, probably part of a large farmhouse originally. Late C16 or C17,
or possibly earlier, with later lean-to at rear. Rendered stone or cob.
Corrugated iron roof, reputedly with thatch underneath. 2 storeys, the upper
storey heightened a little. 4-window range. Each cottage has central doorway with
single-storey C19 lean-to porch. A window at either side in ground storey, with
matching windows in second-storey. All windows have C19 wood casements. Between
the left-hand ground and second-storey windows of the left-hand cottage, a panel of
slate-hanging. In left-hand gable a projecting stone chimney-stack with set-offs
and tapered top, the latter with an added shaft above it. In rear wall at extreme
right-hand end another projecting stack with set-offs and tapered top. Interiors
not inspected, but they have features of interest, possibly concealed by plaster.
