Public house. Early C19, late C19 public house frontage.
Rendered, slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, 3 windows; 6-pane sashes at the eaves
above 8:12:8-pane bowed oriels. Ground floor is in 2 parts; to
the left, under a continuous hood with moulded edge on deep
consoles on pilasters, are two 3-light casements with transom,
the upper lights in small panes. To the right is a door, and
to the left, on the corner and at a splay, a pair of glazed
doors with transom and side-lights; the splayed entry
corresponds with that to the Prince of Wales Public House (qv)
on the opposite corner. The stall riser is in dark green
glazed brick, which is used elsewhere in the public house
frontage. Above the splay the corner is carried up square.
To the right, the former No.53, is a 4-pane C19 display window
with slender column mullions to flat elliptical heads to the
lights, and with a slight fascia stopped to small consoles. In
a recessed arch extreme right a C20 door.
The return left, to Bath Street, has two 16-pane sashes at
first floor, over a continuation of the public house frontage,
with a door centred to 3-light casements, and a one-bay
extension of 1 storey. The back has 6-pane sashes to the top
floor.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
