House. Late C16 or C17 with C20 addition at rear. Stone and cob; front wall
covered with roughcast, except for patches of C20 render. Thatched roof (the only
one left in main street) hipped at each end. C20 brick chimney-shaft at right-hand
end. 2 storeys, with single-storey brick lean-to at rear. 2 windows wide, all
windows C19 of wood. Doorway at extreme left of ground storey has plank door. 2
windows in centre of ground storey. To left a 2-light casement, each light with 8
panes, to right a 6-pane lower light with 3-pane transom light. In second storey 2
smaller windows at different levels; to left a 2-light casement with 6 panes per
light, to right a similar window with one horizontally sliding sash.
Interior: ground plan consists of through passage to left and a single room to
right. Passage has thick, plain joists above; at rear a chamfered wood door-frame,
originally straight-headed, but converted to a shouldered head in C20. The room has
projecting chimney-breast with C20 fireplace in right-hand gable. Beside it, to
rear, a newel staircase partly set into a semi-circular recess in the wall.
Probably original fireplaces, ceiling-beams, roof-timbers and other features
concealed under plaster.
