House, formerly the forge. Probably C18, thorough C20 renovations. Whitewashed
rendered cob and stone ; thatched roof, gabled at left end, half-hipped at end of
wing ; end stack to wing, end stack to main range.
Plan: L plan, 2 single depth blocks at right angles to one another. The main range
(facing the road) is a single room ; the wing, end on to the road, has a fireplace
with bread oven. Front door into main range in angle with the wing.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1:1 window front (the one window in the end of the
wing). Thatched porch on posts to right of main block ; C20 small-pane timber
casements.
Interior: Largely modernized ; the wing has a chamfered crossbeam, rebuilt fireplace
with separate bread oven and a plank door to the stair.
Forms a group with Rollestone Cottages, the Ley Arms and Youngs Farmhouse.
