Cottage. Probably mid C17. Whitewashed plastered cob and stone rubble; thatched
roof, gabled at ends; left end stack with granite shaft, C20 right end stack with
brick shaft.
Plan: Single depth, 2 rooms wide with a later rear outshut; principal heated room
to the left; central entrance probably into passage or stair hall. The ground is at
a lower level to the right.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window front with 2 gabled dormers to the
front; C20 front door with flat porch canopy. 2- and 3-light C19 or C20 timber
casements with glazing bars. The right return has a C17 2-light timber mullioned
window to the first floor with chamfered mullions and a chamfered frame.
Interior: Not inspected at time of survey (1986) but said to have an exposed
crossbeam in the principal room, a first floor framed partition and roof timbers
with curved feet.
Forms a group with Rose Cottage (qv) which is approximately parallel to it at the
front. The 2 houses are extremely close together.
