Farmhouse, now house. Cl7, remodelled mid-C18, altered mid-C19 with further
alterations and additions c1973. Part timber-framed with brick and rendered
infill; part brick; plain tiled roofs. L-plan; main two-bay range aligned
roughly east/west and largely of C18 brick; intersecting cross-wing of two
framed bays (south one now mainly brick) has large external sandstone and
brick chimney with tiled offsets and detached brick stack at the gabled
east side of its north bay; also C18 stack at its south gable end. Partly
two storeys and attic with dormer, partly single storey and attic with four-
course band between storeys at rear; dentilled eaves cornice. Framing: cross-
wing has four panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in upper
corners and collar and tie-beam trusses with struts; V-strut in apex at north
gable end. Windows are C20 leaded casements. North front elevation: main
part has a ground floor 2-light and a first floor 3-light window; both have
cambered heads; gabled dormer with 2-light casement; main entrance to left has
lean-to canopy on a shaped bracket (which continues above the adjacent window)
and a C20 door with a cambered head; tall stack to mid-roof pitch between bays;
from right bay projects a C20 wing with a 3-light ground floor and a 2-light
first floor window; 2-light first floor window in angle. Cross-wing gable end
has two 2-light and a single-light window on the ground floor and two attic
lights. Interior of north bay of cross-wing has substantial part of framing
intact and a large fireplace. Small C20 addition to rear of cross-wing and
also C20 single-storey two-bay wing to east side linking the building with the
adjacent house (qv), formerly a barn.
