Country House, 1717 on site of earlier house. Brown brick with
red brick and rubbed brick dressings. Tiled roof with parapet.
3-storeys, the lower 2 having a giant Doric order with pilasters
on stone bases and a full entablature. 2:5:2 sash windows in
moulded frames with segmental gauged brick arches. Aprons and
moulded stone sills. Original thick glazing bars. Recessed
centre has door surround of fluted Roman Doric columns and
segmental open pediment with carved and painted armorial bearing.
S elevation has 2-window extension, probably by Sir R Blomfield
after 1911. Interior has large, fielded-panel staircase with
alternate barley twist and fluted balusters on S side of entrance
hall.
