Barn and farm buildings attached. '1854' on quatrefoil datestone
in S gable of middle range. An E-plan group with a tall 10-bay
timberframed weatherboarded double barn lying E-W and 3 white
brick lower ranges extending southward at right angles defining a
horse yard on the W end and a cattle yard on the E. Gabled slate
roofs and a gabled porch on the S side of the barn projecting
into each yard. Double doors in each porch and corresponding
large doorway with sliding doors in N side. High boarded doors
for pitching into the bays flanking the doors. Queen strut roof
with curved knee-braces to tie beams. Clasped purlin structure.
Brick ranges partly open fronted to yards. A group of model farm
buildings dating from John Hodgson's rebuilding on the Gilston
Park Estate, possibly designed by P C Hardwick, his architect. A
little-altered group of model farm buildings of 1854. Part of a
group with the contemporary farmhouse.
