Walled enclosure. Late C16. High red brick walled enclosure
formerly a walled garden to Nine Ashes on N. Now encloses
grounds and house not of special interest. Frontage to road in
English bond with diaper of black headers. Upper part rebuilt.
Blocked doorway with timber lintel. Short (2 metres) length of
low projecting plinth. Modern semicircular embayment with gates
and 4 piers for entrance. An historic feature surviving from Sir
Thomas Forster's late C16 house or the older house he altered.
Important element in roadside group with the buildings of Nine
Ashes Farm, on the road to the church and Hunsdon House.
