(Tudor Cottage)


House. Mid to late C17, part rebuilt in C18, altered C20. Timber frame,
exposed to front with rendered and roughcast infill. Steeply pitched
slate roof. 2 cells, lobby entry. 2 storeys. Earlier bay to left has
higher plinth, close studding with middle rail, upper passing tension
braces. Right bay is later with smaller scantling to similar framing. 2
different sequences of carpenter's numbers on studs meet at centre.
Entrance to right of centre in later bay. C20 2 light casements, leaded
on ground floor. Central ridge stack with right half rebuilt. Rendered
right end with exposed plates and to rear with a C20 lean-to addition.
Interior: cross axial bearers, one run-out and one stop chamfered,
run-out chamfered joists, jowled posts to cambered tie beams. Included
for group value.
