Barn. C18. Timber frame on brick base, weatherboarded. Half hipped tiled
roof. 4 bays, 3rd from house open. Lean-to slate roofed addition to
front. Inserted casements. Interior: braces from jowled posts to tie
beams, angled struts clasp purlins, braces in walling. Attached to left
and projecting forward is a lower L shaped range, 3 bays to each arm,
weatherboarded and brick, half hipped tiled roof, lean-to outshut
additions. Beyond this range to far left is an even lower C17 red brick
range with a high plinth, corrugated iron roofing, originally taller. At
far left front angle is a truncated brick pier with a late C16 or C17
carved stone finial, probably a wolf's head removed from gate post of
garden entrance to earlier Hyde Hall (q.v.).
