Barn. C17. Timber frame on red brick sill in English-bond, dark
weatherboarded with steep pitched half-hipped roof now of corrugated
iron but with thin spars for thatch. A tall 6-bays barn, used as 2
3-bays barns, facing W. Later partition in middle without masonry sill.
Swept jowls to posts, long curved braces to cambered tie-beams,
mid-height rail tenoned in-line. Clasped-purlin roof with one purlin to
each slope supported on slightly inclined queen-posts thickening to the
head, splayed scarf joints to purlin. Slots for wind-braces now missing.
Face-halved bladed scarf joints in wallplate next to post. Small
winnowing doors on E in 2nd bay from each end.
