Villa, now nursing home. c1834. Architects RW and C Jearrad. Ashlar over brick with slate roof and ashlar party-wall and ridge stacks. Domestic Tudor style. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, that part to right on basement, 6 first-floor windows arranged 2:4. Right part is taller and breaks forward with further central breakforward to this part, crowning frieze and cornice with blocking course. Paired windows throughout with central chamfered mullion, those to ground floor have transoms with French windows with overlights to left and casements to right, those to first floor have 1/1 sashes, all in chamfered surrounds; 3rd and 5th windows have hoodmoulds. Loggia across left part and entrance has 4-centred arched openings, arch to porch on corbels and with shaped lancet lights. Entrance: 8-panel, part-glazed double doors and shaped overlight in 4-centred surround and within porch has rib-vaulted ceiling and further double, part-glazed shaped doors. Garden facade: 2 storeys, 4 first-floor windows. Right end breaks forward and is gabled with kneeler and shaped copings. Ground floor has canted bay to breakforward with 1:2:1 mullion and transom windows and casements. Otherwise ground floor has 2-light mullion and transom windows with French windows and overlights. 2-light windows to first floor have 1/1 sashes and to breakforward are French windows and overlights under shaped hoodmould and with shield. All in chamfered surrounds. INTERIOR: open-well staircase has alternately embellished and stick balusters and wreathed handrail; oval skylight to hall. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: remains of shutters to ground floor. Abuts Aban Court, Malvern Road (qv) with which the garden facade forms a continuous design.
