Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary

A Grade I Listed Building in Offwell, Devon

St Mary: detail from the memorial to Joanna Southcote, d.1696; swan-necked pediment & cartouche containing the Southcote arms

Uploader's Comments

Arms of Southcote are 'argent a chevron engrailed gules between three martlets sable'.

The quartering is probably an alternative for Collins 'sable a chevron guttee-de-sang between three doves proper'
