Paine's Farmhouse
GV II
House. C16. Timber framed and clad with red and blue brick on ground floor,
tile hung on 1st floor with plain tiled roof. Lobby entry plan. Two storeys
and attic on plinth, partly of sandstone, with half-hipped roof, stack to centre
right and gabled C20 dormer to right. Two 3 light wooden casements on each
floor to left, and 2 and 3 light casements on each floor to right at lower
level, with boarded door to centre right in gabled porch. Truncated stacks on
return elevations. Catslide outshot to rear with C20 extensions. Interior:
full frame visible of large scantling with chamfered beams. Large inglenook
with bread oven (stack built in 2 phases, the right hand side later, the whole
end right section of the house probably rebuilt slightly later than main range.
C18 rear extgension with bolection moulded fire surround.
