5/31 Ashton Cross Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Early C17, altered and added to, largely in late C19.
Timber-framed, part on stone plinth, brick nogged, part limewashed,
with brick wings to left hand side and rear. Raised tile roof and
ridge, formerly thatched. 2 storey, including central hipped dormer,
with added 1 storey wings. 3 bays. 2 and 3 light iron and
timber casements, one under arched brick head. Added timber-framed
porch with hipped tile roof, at right side of central bay, contains
ledge and batten door. Replaced brick stacks midway along ridge and
at rear. Side wing and part of main block have paintwork simulating
timber-framing.
Interior: Chamfered beams, replaced stair.
