Farmhouse C17, probably early, of brick-nogged oak small framing on
sandstone plinth with stone and brick patching and grey slate roof of
steep pitch, probably formerly thatched. L-shaped with projecting
cross-wing left. 1½ storeys; 1 window per floor in right wing, 1 on
inner side and 1 on front of cross-wing. Victorian brick porch in
corner has shaped boarded door in triangular-headed opening. A gabled
dormer on right wing and on inner side of cross-wing; the former has a
decorated tie beam on which is carved 17TT04 - the dormer looks
earlier. Small-pane softwood casements. Ridge chimney on cross-wing,
flush gable chimney on right wing; both brick. C19 brick outshut at
back.
Interior: Stone floors downstairs. Front room in cross-wing has an
oak main beam with cyma-moulded arris; room in right wing has similar
beam and inglenook with bar-stopped chamfered bressumer. The 2 rooms
in cross-wing have back-to-back ingle-nooks, now concealed. Some
broad-board doors on wrought iron long hinges. Shaped splat balusters
on landing.
