A Grade I Listed Building in Cornwood, Devon

St Michael: inscription from the monument to John Savery of Slade, d.1696

Uploader's Comments

There is some confusion as to whether the inscription relates to the father or child. The church guide believes that it relates to John the father. I read it that Prudence Drake's husband was William and their child was John (the reclining figure). There certainly was a William Savery of Slade whose will is dated 1696.
