House. Probably late medieval fabric remodelled probably in C17 with C20
alterations. Stone and cob with partly rendered facade. Thatched roof. Hipped at
right end. Tall lateral stack to front with offsets heating inner room with slated
cap to projecting bread oven. Tall lateral hall stack to rear. Principally 3 room
and through-passage plan, the lower end possibly extended originally for animal
accommodation or farm storage, the end part of which is still used as storeroom.
The inner room has been added or entirely rebuilt in stone in C17, gable end to the
main range with the rear extension originally a barn now converted to garage use,
forming overall L-shaped plan. 2 storeys. 5 window range. C20 fenestration.
Interior: much altered, one C17 doorway to landing corridor with chamfered and
scroll-stopped durns. Roof structure appears to be entirely remodelled in C17 with
straight lap-jointed collars with purlins resting on the backs of the principals
supporting waney rafters. However, one of the purlins shows signs of smoke-
blackening and may well be reused from a former medieval roof structure suggesting
this originally was an open hall house.
