House. Some C17 fabric extended and entirely remodelled in C19. Roughly coursed
stone rubble. Slate roof with plain moulded bargeboards at left gable end. Stone
stack at hipped end to right. Stone stack to front between 2 left-hand gables.
Complex plan. The C17 fabric is contained in the south-facing range which now
forms a wing to the rear right side of the added and C19 Gothick front range with a
contemporary additional short wing to rear left side. 2 storeys. 4 window range.
2 gables flanking larger central gable. Fenestration in Gothick style with
surrounds in stone to ground floor, timber to upper storey, all with segmental
pointed arches to the lights. Single 2-light window each side of canted bay window
2 storeys in height with hipped slate roof and windows of 3-lights with single
sidelights on each floor. Ground floor has 2 light window to left of the canted
bay and gabled porch to right with 4-centred arched doorway and 3-light windows to
each side. Additional bay forming gable end of rear wing to right has 3-light
casements on each floor in same style. Canted bay window to left gable end. A
single 4-light ovolo mullion timber window survives to the rear range. Bell and
bellcote at eaves level to right.
Interior: the central room in the C17 rear wing contains central beam and
bressumers, ovolo-moulded with run-out stops, with similarly moulded and stopped
joists. The roof structure of the rear wing has been raised and replaced except
for a single probably C17 truss over the lower front end.
