TL 51 SE AYTHORPE RODING KEERES GREEN

5/14 BEADLES COTTAGE


GV II

Cottage, late C16, extended in C17 and C20. Timber-framed, plastered, roof
thatched. Originally of 2 bays, storeyed in E bay, open from ground to roof
in W bay with end chimney stack at W. In C17, floor inserted in W bay
and extra bay added beyond stack. Old photographs at NMR show a single-
storey extension to the N of the E bay. In 1975 this extension removed,
single storey extension to W and porch added, all extensively renovated.
Single storey with attics. C20 casement windows to N, with one gabled dormer
in middle bay. Roof half-hipped at both ends, with evidence of former
unglazed window below E half-hip. On ground floor, partition between E and
middle rooms removed. C17 newel stair to S of stack, in good order.
