Music room. c.1840. Rendered and scribed two fronts, rubble to north and east
fronts, slate roof. A detached lofty room over cellars, hipped roof, segmental
east end; brick stack to eaves middle of north front. South front has 4 arched
windows with margin-bar sashes in architraves with keystones, below shallow
blank recesses at eaves; plain string at arch springing level, bold alternating
quoins as to Chantry House (q.v.). Plain east end, north front has door on 2
slate steps; west front has door from connecting glazed link to The Chantry
(q.v.). Interior: A main room with segmental apse via pilasters and brackets.
Rich plastered ceiling, coved, with centre rose. Windows have coloured glass to
margins. Raised platform in apse. A steep winder stair leads to cellars with
slate slab floors, in various compartments. A wide straight stair leads to the
kitchen in The Chantry and there is an iron spiral to the apse. An important
element grouped with the large house.
