Old Hall (formerly listed as
one of series of 4 watch houses)

GV II

Conduit house. c.1587-90 for Bess of Hardwick. Sandstone ashlar. Square in plan.
Chamfered plinth and string course at the top of the base. A large round-arch on
each side, the angle piers treated with elementary capitals and bases. On the
north and south sides there are walls to half height. Moulded cornice and blocking
course.
