Roystone Grange Farmhouse
and Barn

II

Farmhouse. Late C18. Coursed rubble limestone, partly pebble dashed, and
gritstone dressings. Plain tile roof with brick ridge stack and gable end stacks.
T-plan. Three storeys. South elevation: pebble dashed. Central doorway with
pointed stone surround. C20 half glazed door. Flanked on each side by 2-light
square sectioned mullion windows with C19 casements. Two similar windows above,
with a single light window over the doorway, and two similar, but lower, windows
above again. All the stone window surrounds are pointed. Lower C19 barns
attached to the east, on the south side with three doorways with chamfered stone
quoins and lintels, stepped downhill, and one later doorway. A single first
floor opening with chamfered surround.
