L-shaped block incorparting medieval masonry probably from the Church of
St Emerenciana, which by Leland's time in C16 had fallen down. Chamfered
projecting course of eaves. C14 or C15 pointed stone doorway with modern
wrought iron gate. North wing has been re-roofed with tile. Gable end
facing road, has blocked 2-light window, C14 in date. Main front is at
right angles to road and is 2 storey with wood casements. The further
end is probably C17 and formerly had lead glazing to casements. Saint
Emerenciana is included in the Sherborne Missal (see Jo Fowler, "Medieval
Sherborne").
