GV II

House, C17, extended in early C19. Timber framed, plastered and weatherboarded,
roofed with slates and red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned approx. E-W, with
external chimney stack on W end, and another to N of E end, aspect S. Parallel
range to N of painted brick, early C19. 2-storey extension with pitched roof
at W end, single storey extension with pitched roof in NW angle, lean-to
conservatory in SW angle. 2 storeys. S elevation, approx. central half-glazed
door, C19, in recessed porch, 2 double-hung sash windows of 12 lights, early
C19, with external folding shutters forming pilasters, and shallow hood, those
to the E early C19, those to the W C20 reproductions. Weatherboarded dado.
First floor, 3 double-hung sash windows of 12 lights, early C19. N elevation, 3
french windows, early C19, one double-hung sash window of 16 lights, late C19.
First floor, 2 double-hung sash windows of 16 lights, and a central window with
Gothick ogival head. Brick quoins on NE angle. The S range is roofed with
handmade red clay plain tiles on the S pitch, machine-made red clay tiles on
the N pitch. The N range is roofed with red clay pantiles on the S pitch,
slates on the N pitch. Clasped purlin roof with straight wind bracing, heavily
constructed on W bay, lighter elsewhere. In ground floor room at E end, exposed
beam plain-chamfered with lamb's tongue stops, joists plastered to the soffits.
Plain stair with rosewood rail and square balusters, early C19. Bracketed to
it end of building, cast iron pump, late C19, with initials, possibly W.C., no
