Post box. 1853-59 for the Royal Naval Hospital but probably
cast by one of the Post Office contractors. Painted red
cast-iron. Octagonal pillar with angle beading, moulded cap
which is flat and moulded base with shallow plinth. Vertical
posting slit with external flap. Part of an outstanding
complex of military hospital buildings.
