TL 1224 4009 CHICKSANDS

2/24 Firstlodge Farmhouse,
approx 800 metres N of
Chicksands Priory

GV II

House. C17 or earlier, reworked C19. Some timber framing with red brick
infill, partly roughcast, with rebuilding and extensions in red brick. Clay
tile roofs. Originally L-plan, with additional blocks to S, E and N. 2
storeys. S elevation: LH gable and central gabled porch have exposed timber
framing to first floor, ground floor rebuilt in brick. RH gable is C19.
Outer gables have 3-light casements, one to each floor, porch has 2-light
casement to first floor, all with glazing bars. C20 replacement panel door
with sidelights and rectangular fanlight. Red brick multiple ridge stack to
LH gable. Variety of windows to other elevations, mostly casements with
glazing bars. Linked to rear of house is small outbuilding built of re-used
ironstone and limestone blocks with pantiled roof.
