18r~. Begun during the life of the Duchess of Kent. Architect A J Humbert.
Heavy late French neo-classical detail. Galleried, ribbed copper dome to ashlar rotunda surrounded by pink granite colonnade with bronze Ionic capitals and
bases. Bronze urns on entablature. Rusticated basement. Main approach, facing bridge over lake, has double flight of balustraded steps, heavy rustication to retaining wall with central niche and bust, returning to meet on terrace
in front of heavily rusticated projecting portal to basement of rotunda. Heavy panelled round headed gun metal doors. Interior by Professor Gruner of Dresden with heraldic painting. Statue of the Duchess by William Theed the younger.
