Easton Cottage

House and cottage, former public house. Mid to late C17. Timber framed with
painted brick early C19 front and flanks. Gabled pegtile roofs. Front of main
block has end pilasters, dentilled eaves and string band. On first floor are 4
double hung sashes with small panes and flat heads. The ground floor has 4
similar windows with central door with flat hood on C19 cast iron decorative
columns. The cottage has one double hung sash on each floor, dentilled cornice
and 2 storey rear extension with gable pegtile roof. Gable end stack on north
flank, and square stacks, behind ridge line in centre and towards southern end.
North flank has a pair of bowed Gothick late C18 ogee headed windows with
contemporary leaded lights over 2 horizontal sliding casement windows with small
panes. Centre part has mid C17 framing exposed inside with a later C18 bay on
the north end. Remnants survive of an earlier timber framed structure in the
cottage party wall.
